I spent a lot of time writing in a sunlit New Jersey room overlooking lawns and trees.  Then I moved to a deck in the Sierras overlooking a rugged California valley.  These days I'm writing from the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

 

Note:  The valley behind me is not in California.  It's in Germany.

 

Height = 6' 8" (203 cm).  Answer to your question:  I never played basketball, although I did try in ninth grade.  The coach suggested that I study hard if I wanted to go to college.

 

Travel:  I like to visit places I write about.

 

Aviation:  commercial pilot and flight instructor.  Ten flights in my Mooney across the United States and two across Canada, and counting. I've landed an airplane in all of the Lower 48, Alaska and Hawaii and all 10 Canadian provinces.

Music:  I am a sucker for European music festivals.
